About NUICA

NUICA is comprised of union-only contractors.

Mission: The purpose of NUICA is to promote the business interests of its members as thermal insulation, firestopping, and environmental control contractors with strict union affiliations by

  • stimulating those activities, including mechanical thermal insulation, firestopping, asbestos abatement and other associated industries into which its membership may enter and promoting those industries generally,
  • acting as a multi-employer bargaining unit for the U.S. and Canada,
  • maintaining mutually advantageous relations between members of NUICA and the International trade unions.

Benefits of Membership:
NUICA works with the International to identify and secure work in markets that are currently non-union and to protect markets that are traditionally jurisdiction of the Insulator.

NUICA has secured two agreements with the International that are of great benefit to NUICA members.

  • Two Man Portability Agreement – Allows the portability of manpower outside of any signatory locals.
  • Specialty Tank Portability Agreement – Members have the privilege of sending up to 4 Journeymen Mechanics on any “specialty tank project” in the jurisdiction of any other local union.

NUICA trustees jointly manage the LMCT with the respective International union trustees. The LMCT is a program designed to promote the mechanical insulation industry and expand opportunities for the signatory members of the LMCT.

Membership Eligibility:
NUICA is comprised of union only contractors. Those who are affiliated with non-union construction related activities are ineligible for membership.
